Notes of Orange Slices & Raw Sugar
Producer Zuberi Matsitsi is committed to giving credit where it’s due—celebrating the farmers behind exceptional coffees like this one. He’s chosen to highlight Masasu Hill in particular, an area known for its distinct climate and promising growing conditions. The farmers here take great pride in their craft and are dedicated to sharing their labor of love.
Their work is supported by the Businde washing station, which cooperates with 650 local farming families. Farmers delivering cherries to the station receive a 20% premium above the local market rate, while station staff earn nearly 60% more than the standard wage in Burundi. This washing station, like many others in Burundi, demonstrates a clear commitment to ethical labor standards and environmental stewardship.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it— Using a traditional washed process, the origin-specific characteristics of this coffee truly shine. That’s why we love a good washed coffee!
Juicy and bright like fresh orange slices, with a delightfully nuanced sweetness reminiscent of raw sugar, the Burundi Businde reflects the rustic beauty of its origin.
