We taste Medjool Date & Tomatillo
Located in the Kihoya subregion, Murang’a County’s Mathioya District, the Gondo coffee factory has been producing coffee since 1998. Currently, 727 different producers deliver their coffees to Gondo. Most of these growers in this region tend to small farms of 1-2 hectares.
Perfectly ripe red cherries are carefully handpicked and thoroughly sorted so only the best remain. Harvested cherries are pulped and wet-processed, using water from the nearby Kananahu stream, which is then recirculated before disposal to avoid acidification of local waterways. Pulped beans are fermented for mucilage removal for 16-18 hours, washed, graded, and set out to dry under the sun and carefully monitored using moisture meters for consistency.
Kenyan coffee is commonly commended for having especially clean and bright profiles, and the Kenya Gondo AB surely does not miss the mark. This coffee has a soft yet rich caramel-like sweetness balanced with notes of vibrant, ripe tomatillos.
Available in 12oz, 2lb, or 5lb bags.
